Transformation of a one-family dwelling with 3 floors into two housing units. A structure dating back to the first decade of the XX Century, with a patio and outdoor garage, it meets the needs of an independent housing programme for two units with a “duplex” and “triplex” typology, sharing outdoor spaces and attached dependencies on a horizontal property regime. The intervention was geared towards improving the building’s intrinsic architectural qualities, using them in benefit of the newly designed spaces. The discipline imposed on the design and the proportion of the spaces, the details and the choice of materials, guarantee a sober intervention that brings value to the pre-existing architectural heritage, as a condition for the new and appropriate quality of living associated to new houses, always keeping in mind identity and memory as essential values.
