“CRUZ VERMELHA” CHILDREN’S CENTER

The presente process justifies in a synthetic, but comprehensive way, the urgency and necessity of the intervention to be conducted generically in two fronts of work: intervention in the existing building and the expasion of a new area for the Creche- the Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa children’s center.

The site of the intervention is characterized and punctuated architecturally by a two-story building ( ground floor and florr) where all social responses are currently located, supported by ground floor dependencies with support facilities. The exteriors are presented as support to pedagogical activities and outdoor recreation, untreated green spaces or parking and servisse areas.

The intention is, therefore, to adapt the pre-existing building to improve the conditions and legal and regulatory compliance of the existing social reponse. The new building ( extension- Cruz Vermelha Portuguesa Children’s center) ensures from root the full compliance with all applicable regulations, as well as the suitability to the purposes for which i tis intended.

I tis thus taken, at some levels, as na in-depth intervention, solving safety and sanitation prolems, promoting adequate functional responses, but also acting to optimize the comfort and safety conditions of all users.

Evident in the drawings that are parto f this process, namely in those that presente the synthesis of  “conventional colors”, the intervention endows the set of buildings with a whole new functioning organization, presenting in na eficiente way a whole set of optimized systems for its operationalization, highlighting:

– Prior demolition of structures unsuitable for the use and users of the building (floor);

– Standardized design of the spaces for activities and childcare, aimed at standardization of produres (cleaning and maintenance) and the equity of comfort and servisse conditions;

– Optimized organization of circuits and technical and servisse spaces, enabling their management by need and valence. The functional organization chart adopts the best practices implementable in these types of social response, adapting tghem with a minimum commitment to the pre-existing building;

– Refunctionalization of the infrastructure networks and provisiono f those necessary for the operationalization of services and use of the building, considering the hight level of demand to which they are subjected;

– Providing security conditions- active and passive- at various levels, particalarly against fire risk and universal accessibility;

– Reconditioning of the usable outdoor spaces, providing them with a rational use appropriate to the use by the various public users- of various conditions.
